#17: Audio and Personality: How Music Shapes our Identity
From concerned parents banning Heavy Metal and Gangster Rap from the bedrooms of middle America to the Muzak Corporation promising increased productivity via audio wallpaper, society has always placed a high importance in the link between what we listen to and how we behave. But, can music actually influence our personalities? And how can our personality affect the music we listen to? And what does this all mean for audio reproduction?
Joining me to explore this controversial issue of audio and personality are three experts who can certainly tell their music for airports from their muzak for shopping malls: Dr. David M. Greenberg, psychologist, musician and researcher at Bar-Ilan University and Cambridge University, Ruth Dockwray, Associate Professor of Popular Music at the University of Chester, and HARMAN‘s multi award-winning Senior Fellow Dr. Sean Olive.
